This recipe is perfect for moving on from purees to lumpier textures. It’s also nice and quick! Both myself and Aara love eating it and we love our breakfasts together.
It can be cooked and combined in advance, or we sometimes keep the fruit puree and use in other recipes as needed.
When steaming our fruit (or veg), we love using our @ourplace pan as it makes steaming super quick and has been an essential item in these early weaning days.
Suitable for 6months +
Recipe makes enough for 4 servings
Ingredients:
1 Apple
1 Large Pear or 2 Smaller ones
150ml Milk
15g Porridge Oats
Pinch of Cinnamon
Method:
1. Peel and slice the apples and pears into quarters, then boil or steam for approximately 12 minutes, or until the fruit has gone soft. Retain the water to help with blending.
2. Once the fruit is steamed and soft to the touch, blend in a food processor until you get a lumpy texture, add retained water for a smoother texture.
3. Meanwhile start to cook the porridge oats, combines the oats and milk and cook for roughly 3 to 4 minutes to gain your desired texture.
4. Once cooked combined the apple and pears with the porridge oats. Or portion out the oats and add the desired amount of apple and pear puree.
5. Mix to combine
6. Serve with a sprinkling of cinnamon.
N.B. In the early days Aara preferred a smooth a texture, so I would pre-blend the oats before using for a smooth consistency.
